Color and Scent of Hibiscus Extract
Even the same raw material can show different colors depending on water-to-alcohol extraction ratios. Many consumers wonder why JARIO products aren’t fully transparent and why they carry a plant scent. The answer is simple: this is normal and a sign of authenticity.
The color and aroma of plant extracts come from three main sources. Natural pigments like chlorophyll, flavonoids, anthocyanins, and carotenoids give the extract its color. Volatile aromatic compounds such as essential oils, phenols, and aldehydes provide the natural scent. Active compounds themselves may also have color and odor, reflecting their effectiveness.
Color and scent usually indicate that the extract retains its natural bioactivity. Completely colorless and odorless products have often been heavily refined, removing active compounds. Most natural extracts appear light yellow to amber with a subtle plant aroma.
Even after decolorization, full transparency is hard to achieve. Early HERCET® development showed that genuine extracts always retain some color. Pursuing total transparency often removes active ingredients or requires chemical treatment—like expecting herbal tea to look as clear as water.
Truly natural extracts often have a hint of color and scent. At HERCET®, we prioritize preserving active components, naturally retaining the original color and aroma. When you see a soft amber hue and gentle plant fragrance, it is not incomplete processing—it is nature leaving its trace. True naturalness never needs to disguise itself.
